For this article we are going to share some resourceful ways you can reduce your plastic waste and reuse items instead of throwing them away.
1 . DIY Storage Containers
Lots of our favourite beauty products come in such lovely packaging which always seems like a shame to throw away. Some ideas for your to reuse them is by cleaning them out and putting some jewellery, bobby pins, hairbands anything that is small that you always end up loosing them!
It would also be cute if you wanted to up-cycle the containers by painting them or adding a new label which would make the perfect little addition to your dressing table.
2. Travel Sized Toiletries
Summer is here! Another hack that we have for you is by purchasing reusable containers that you can fill up with your existing products and take them on holiday. This is way better than having the buy new travel sized toiletries which even though they are little in size they are big in price! Click here to find some reusable containers.
3. Herb Planters
If you have a big enough container you can easily use it to plant something! It is quite easy all you need is some seeds or a plant that has just started to sprout and some soil. Place it in the container making sure it gets plenty of light of water and just watch it grow!
Nothing says saving the planet like planting something.
4. DIY candles
Once your candle runs out it might be a fun activity to make your own candle. You will need some wax, a wick, some essential oils of your choice (ie lavender, rosemary, bergamont), a spatula, something to steady the wick (chopsticks, forks etc)
Measure out some wax flakes, make sure you use double the amount of shavings when measuring because they reduce in size when melted
Heat up the wax in a pot on medium heat making sure you stir continuously
Once melted add any essential oils you want
Place the wick in the candle jar and stabilise it with chopsticks or anything you can find. The wick needs to be in the centre and still so it doesn’t move around when you are pouring the wax in.
Slowly and carefully pour in the wax, try not to get too much of the wax onto the wick
Leave out the candle and wait for the wax to dry. This could take up to 4 hours. Once completely dry light the candle and enjoy your creation!
We hope that you will get the chance to try out one of these hacks! If you do please let us know either in the comments or by tagging us in an instagram or twitter post.
